Spiritual Heart Damage...

Read Ephesians 4:18-25

Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life (Proverbs 4:23).

Heart problems can be caused by many different things. Sometimes they are hereditary and sometimes they are due to eating too much greasy, salty, fatty, food and not exerciing. I know of a man that has a physical heart problem. The doctors have just recently told him that the nerves in his heart have been damaged. Form what I was told and from what limited knowlege that I have, this means that a heart attack can sneak up on him without any warning. He may not even have chest pains; he could just have a heart attack and, most likely, it will be fatal.

Of course, in order for him to survive, he need to do a few things: he has to go to the doctor and get regular check-ups, has to watch what he eats, and he has to exercise properly.

As I was thinking about all of this, I couldn't help but think about us spiritually. Let me ask us all a question. Was there a time in our life that we were more sensitive to the Holy Spirit than we are right now? Or, have we damaged our hears so that the spiritual nerves can't feel the conviction of the Holy Spirit, like it once did? Do we have spiritual nerve damage of the heart? Are we less sensitive to the sins of the world? If so, we need to go see the Great Physician on a regular basis. We also need to ear right by feasting of the Word of God. And last of all, we need to exercie by telling others about jesus. I believe these three things can help keep us from damagin our spiritual hearts.
